Horse Riding Program

[ezcol_4fifth]Picture 47Our horse riding program is more than just trail rides.  We also offer opportunities to learn how to train horses using Natural horsemanship, work with foals,  participate in our ranch rodeos, learn how to trick train horses and pretty much spend all day with them if you want.

Flip Flop Ranch specializes in making the beginner rider feel welcome.  However, we do have horses for all levels and rides from walking to loping.  When needed, our friendly, helpful wranglers will assist guests in overcoming past experiences and develop confidence at any skill level. Our greatest reward is seeing guests and horses working well together.

  • Children 8 years and older may qualify for our fast rides, mountain rides and all day rides.
  • Children between 5 and 8 years may enjoy the slow rides.
  • Children younger or at lower levels can have a lead line ride in the arena.

Learn to train horses using the Natural Horsemanship technique.  This is a training and handling technique which is kinder and gentler than traditional methods, and works on the premise that teaching through pain and fear do not result in the type of relationship that benefits both horse and handler.  We use this method to work with all our horses.

Trail Rides
High desert horseback riding guest ranchSlow Rides: Slow and easy on the back of a horse, it’s the perfect way to experience the desert, soak up some sun and enjoy the incredible scenery.
Fast Rides: Loping/cantering through the desert is always fun and exciting. Experienced riders love these rides and we pride ourselves on helping beginners gain the skills necessary to participate as well.
high desert-Horse-RidingAll Day Rides: This could be the best ride of your life! Exciting and beautiful, our steep, rocky, mountain trails take you to the top of our surrounding mountains where the views are fantastic. For our guests who are comfortable on the fast ride, you’ll spend almost 8 hours in the saddle and cover 20 – 25 miles. Lunch is served on the trail. Highlights of this ride include traveling through the San Bernardino National Forest and seeing an old Japanese hide out from World War II American concentration camps.

Highly popular and instructive, our lessons are geared to the group’s level. Private lessons are also available.

Work with foals
We often have foals at the ranch.  You can join in on our training and maybe even see one born.  Foals are seasonal and not guaranteed to be available!
