Flip Flop Ranch is not a commercialized entertainment center. We are a real family farm tucked away in the desert countryside of southern california. We offer a chance for you to see how a farm family lives and what farm life is like when you stay at our ranch. We milk our own goats, raise our own chickens and try our best to be self-sustaining. The family is made up of Lisa, the mom, Tashelle, the big sister, Thomas, Tashelle’s husband, and Serina, the little sister. We all work very hard to keep our farm going and are often joined by interns from around the world who help us with the work.
You should expect personal interaction with the family and lots of interaction with the animals. You should expect to learn to milk a goat and feed the livestock. You should also expect to be able to not do this if you’d like and sleep all day or even to leave the farm and go see the sites if you choose. You should expect to enjoy nature, get a little dirty and learn a lot. If this all sounds appealing, you should definitely expect to have fun!
What you shouldn’t expect: Knott’s Berry Farm. We’re an authentic small family farm, not a resort. You shouldn’t expect a perfect environment-animals produce manure, farms require soil (which is dirty since it’s actually dirt), deserts have bugs and snakes and rabbits and coyotes…this is a REAL experience. If you want a sterile hotel, we would suggest the Ritz or some variant thereof. If you want a real experience where you get to see and live a lifestyle that is rare in modern society, then Flip Flop Ranch is for you!
