Order Dorking Chicks

We are not shipping until spring when it warms up.  Please be patient!!!!!  If you want to start raising endangered breeds of chicken like the Dorking then you must be PATIENT.  Dorkings have not been bred to a standard for years upon years upon years.  You may not get chickens that look exactly like the traditional breed standard, because there are few chickens left that are perfect.  Many times Dorkings are born with four toes instead of five or with twisted beaks (both are fine for the cookpot) or they are smaller than a heavy meat bird should be.

Also while Dorkings are typically good layers, sometimes because of the inconsistent genetics, we’ll get a crop of hens who don’t lay well or are sensitive to weather changes and stop laying whenever the weather changes.  This means that you have to be willing to patiently wait for your order, even over a period of months.  If you don’t have this patience or don’t want to possibly wait a long time for chicks then you need to ask yourself if a critically endangered breed is right for you.

Our minimum order is 5 chicks and cost $6 each.

You can order as few or as many Dorking chicks as you want (if it’s at least two).  However, if you order fewer than 25 we put a 72 hour heat pack in the chick box to help keep them warm.  The heat pack costs $5.  This is so the birds can keep themselves warm during shipping.

There is also a minimum shipping charge for the birds of $35.

You are also welcome to pick your birds up from the ranch for free.

**The chicks and eggs are available year round depending on the weather and how well the hens are laying.  Please be patient with your order as we are a small family operation and chickens do as chickens want!  Make sure your post office accepts live animals or you’ll have to pay for shipping and heat pad a second time.  If you don’t want to pay for shipping again then your money will not be refunded as we now are stuck with your chicks.

We don’t give refunds (unless it’s our fault) as the money for your chicks is usually spent pretty quickly on feed.  Refunds wreak havoc on our budgeting since we’re just a small family farm so please be sure you want these chicks before you order!
